is there too much food media?
November 15, 2008
I am a big fan of people caring about food, about where it comes from, what is in it, who grew it and how. However I am starting to feel that there is a saturation point in the media when it comes to cooking and food and I think we probably reached it about a year ago.
Foxtel now has 2 dedicated food channels with 24 hour food programming. There are new food magazines everywhere (one of which I bought), new cookbooks at an amazing rate, shows on nutrition and obesity, anorexia, every eating disorder under the sun.
I feel like there is just too much. Is Huey still making his show? Does Neil Perry really need another show? I love Jamie Oliver more than any other chef, but does he really need 3 or 4 shows running concurrently?
I love cooking, but when is enough enough?
