Craft Sunday v.2
April 5, 2009
Today marked the second Craft Sunday, an afternoon event I have created to bring together the craft loving women in my life so we can share skillz and chat. This meeting increased the total number of attendees by one, to four! Woohoo! But two of those people were new to the event and I think both will return.
At Craft Sundays I try to play a role in facilitating the creation – I provide a space, resources and my time (not that I am the craftiest, except in yarn crafts, but everyone seems to be digging the knitting). As a result I am probably less efficient in those 3 hours than I am at any other 3 hour time I put into craft. But I am really enjoying it! Two people have decided to learn to crochet, which I will too when I have less other pressing needs, and I hope to learn some crossstitch. Myself and my best friend both want to improve our embroidery as well, so I have the books and as soon as we have the chance, we will really focus on that.
In other news, the week (fortnight?) of my birthday has started and previously mentioned best friend MADE ME AN APRON! I am so happy! Admittedly I asked her to, but it was ages ago, before Christmas and she remembered! I love it! She also got me some other wonderful things, she is such an excellent gift giver.
Anyhow, I would love to write something profound or even vaguely interesting but I’ve been thrown out completely by daylight savings, so I think I’ll just go to bed. BUT I’ve found my camera, so I’m hoping that posts will now come with comlementary photos! Is that the right complementary/complimentary? Hmmph, I don’t operate well when tired.
Fewer WIPs = happier me

I’m finally finishing off some of my neverending pile or works in progress! I’ve sewn up quite a few knitted projects and a cardigan that turned into a vest only needs some buttons. Oh it feels grand!
I bought some calico yesterday, which means project learn-to-sew starts soon. I feel that I need to finish something first though, if I start anything else without finishing my brain might explode. I can’t even make a list of unfinished jobs because the list might make me cry. The good news is that in between finishing things I am cleaning the study as well.
I have eight (yes, EIGHT!) mini capsicums growing on my plant, photo tomorrow I hope. They are so cute! I also have about five strawberries on their way, and today I planted some lettuce seeds. Oh here is hoping they thrive!
Thats all for today. ABBA is playing on the tv in the other room and I have to go and turn it off before it gets in my head and I sing awful 70s music all night …
Yay Technology!

Macbook is fixed, is home to the constantly expanding iTunes, and my old PC is one happy computer. I’ve managed to rename, order, edit and upload photos from the first 3 places on my trip overseas – China, Mongolia and Siberia. The pictures are amazing, but don’t compare to the beauty of actually being there. See:

In other news, I ordered some sewing patterns today and I don’t even have a sewing machine yet. Oh dear! But they are just amazing, I can’t help it. I’ll have to make sure I get that sewing machine for my birthday …
My plans to start a regular craft group, once a month, are coming together. I’ve got 5 people coming over for the first ever Craft Sunday and I couldn’t be more pleased! I hope to finish off a baby cardigan I am knitting because I think finishing something at a first meeting gives a sense of accomplishment early in the piece. I suspect this blog will be a place for me to provide comments on the success of the craft weekends as well.
Tomorrow I am off fabric shopping with my friend Grace, and I can’t think of anything better to do than vegan Vietnamese with a good friend on one of the last days of summer.
